We cannot ignore the fact that every New-year is a time to create new bucket lists. Not Diwali, not your birthday, but the 'auspicious' occasion of New-year takes pride in making people take a step towards fresh beginning each year. Many don’t need an excuse or a marked occasion to improve themselves, whilst others try to start afresh but chicken-out every time. Anyways, it's time for another year! Say goodbye to 2019 and welcome the year 2020.
Have you thought about your new-year resolution yet? How about travelling to your favorite country this year, reading a new book every month, or just socializing more than last year. It can be anything! Research has showed that about 60% of us admit to making new year resolutions, while only 8% claim to achieve them.
If you are planning to write some resolutions down, now is a perfect time. 2020 is just around the corner, and every fresh year is a great opportunity to start something new. Think of yourself being amongst those 8% of people who succeed in achieving your resolutions. Take a look at our treasure trove of easy-breezy healthy resolutions and effective tips to keep them over the year. We are here to guide you through it.
Did you know that by the end of 2020, we are completing a full decade? Everyone can start to feel old now! Anyways, good habits have no age. Take a look at the below points, cross your fingers and try some of these resolutions:
If you think that you need to achieve healthy body weight, then the new year can be your excuse to shed some calories. The best thing to do is start slow. Give yourself a target to exercise regularly for a week and follow that diligently. We guarantee you will start to feel good and will want to carry on to the next week. Of course, your body weight doesn’t define you, but a fit body does. Focus on fitness instead of getting lean.
Nutrition is another idea to get your health back in the game. We tend to forget that the basic purpose of food is to fuel our body with energy and nutrition, and our taste-buds are a major reason why we ignore the value of wholesome nutrition a lot of the time. In the new year, try adding-up healthy foods in your daily diet, from fruits to grains and stocking up on green vegetables.
No matter how much you try to justify them, bad habits aren’t good to have. It’s also understandable that quitting them isn’t easy, but a new year’s resolution can be your ultimate excuse to try. You are your best judge. Think about what you want to change. Smoking? Spend-thrifting? Or just taking a good step to improve something you lack on.
While planning for a healthy new year, do not bypass your mental health as it’s an important part of wholesome health. If you think that there’s something or even someone that can be unhealthy for your mind, detach yourself from it. Remember, a cluttered mind can never be a progressive one! Learn to prioritize your mental health and watch yourself speeding up.
The millennial era has given us a lot, but also has taken-away much more; we’ve reached a point of saturation with social media and internet sagas, and no age group is missing this fad. This whirlpool of wireless communication is one of the reasons why there is a lack of real-life communications. Studies have shown that socializing and spending time with your family, friends and loved ones can keep you away from feeling depressed. Make a resolution to find time to meet people you know and a few you wish to get to know.
“Live with no excuses and travel with no regrets” ~ Oscar Wilde.
When you travel, you allow your mind to explore new things. Your ability to see things changes and improves. Once a year, travel someplace new and create new memories and a new version of you each time. Felt like ‘this could be my resolution’ yet?
Let's be realistic, planning a new year’s resolution is not a huge task, it’s keeping them throughout the year that is. So, why not make a plan for that too. Here are a few trusted tricks to keep you going all year long.
Planning for a whole year can be quite overwhelming. You might end up adding too many things which are not easy to follow, or not even worth putting so many efforts. Try to pick-up realistic and practically possible things.
Don’t just jot down a few things for the sake of the new year, plan what you actually want to do and take time to think about it. Planning on the night of 31st December is not a very suggestive idea.
Reward and appreciation makes a person positive. If you think that you have succeeded in reaching a milestone whilst acting on your plan, then don’t hesitate to treat yourself with a possible reward. Maintain a journal for 2-3 months and if you loved doing it, treat yourself to a good diary or notebook. This will help you keep up with the habit.
Many people make new-year resolutions and whilst a few might stick to it, not everyone does it the correct way. For instance, if you plan to get fit and to exercise every day for the year, then it should be done to a target. Make sure that you are going somewhere, losing some weight or keeping fit. Track your activity and push yourself to meet your expectations. You will see a difference.
